DHOKAR DALNA
Dhokar Dalna is a
one of the Bengali signature dish where “DHOKA” stands for “Lentil Cake” but not cheating (in
Hindi “DHOKA”
means cheating).
Ingredients
Chana dal (bengali gram) - 1 cup
Kalaunji - 1 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Red chilly powder - 1 tsp
Cumin powder - 1 tsp
Ginger paste - 1 tsp
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
Tomatoes (chopped) - 2
Garam masala powder - 1/4 th tsp
Dry red chillies - 2
Salt
Cooking oil.
HOW TO COOK
Soak the Chana dal (bengal gram) overnight.
Drain them and blend them in a mixer grinder with very
little water.
Heat a nonstick kadhai with little oil.
Add kalaunji and
once they splutter, add the Chana dal paste and salt.
Cook till the mixture is Dry and becomes doughy.
Pour the mixture on a flat surface and flatten it.
Cut it into diamond shapes and deep fry the pieces and keep
aside.
Heat another kadhai with very little oil.
Add dry red chillies and jeera.
Add the tomatoes and stir.
Cook till they are mushy and then add the ginger paste.
Stir and then add Garam Masalas, salt.
Cook till the masala leaves oil.
Add water and bring upto boil.
Then add the fried dhokas.
Serve.
